I've had this Candycane for about a year now, and these have suddenly shown up within it. They do pulse every now and then, which would point them to being xenia, but I've never had Xenia in my tank.

I have no clue where they came from. They seriously just showed up maybe a month ago.

Thanks.

did you add anything new into the tank recently that might have contained a few polyps like these?

Nope, nothing at all. I don't think I've added a single coral to my tank in months due to a battle with algae I've been having. I lost an acro and almost my sun coral to this algae, so I didn't want to put anything else in with the risk of it being strangled out by the algae or killed by the dying algae (I added a phosban reactor, so the dying masses have messed up my water).

They look like xenia or cavularia (sp?). There were probably a few small stalks growing within the candycane and now they are larger enough to be seen. They grow pretty fast.

It just never ceases to amaze me when new things in the tank pop out of no where. It's like having a newbie tank again :)

I agree with you!

I had clove polyps pop up on a base rock after 5 months. Don't know how it happened
