Tank params maintaned bi-weekly at:
Alk 9.5 - 10.5dkh
Cal 400-440ppm
Mag 1400ppm
P.H. 8.1-8.3

All tested on Salifert kits

All of my purple coralline algae has bleached white except in the shade. It seems to coincide with switching from NO to VHO bulbs. The NO bulbs where 15w 18" The VHO are 30w 18" 2 50/50 and 2 actinic.

Could this be caused by VHO lighting? The tank is 18"x12" by 11" tall. Most of the rocks are 6" or closer to the lights. I am wondering if it is too bright for the algae.

If it is to bright will the algae recover eventually?

The coralline has been bleached by the light. It will adjust and return eventually (not sure how long... could be a while). You may see the green coralline return first, then the purple.
