Ive had my MaxCap 90 for almost a year now. Ive been replacing my sediment and carbon blocks every three to four weeks. With new prefilters, the RO pressure reads 64psi. Within a month, its down to 40psi.
I have been replacing them with the 0.5 micron for both.
For the sediment Ive been using http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SP-.5MSEDIMENT&Category_Code=sprofilters and for the carbon Ive been using http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SP-.5MCARBON&Category_Code=sprofilters .
I'm not on NYC water which I understand is high in sediment but Im not sure if mine is any better. The filters have a light brown color to them though when they are exhausted. My incoming TDS is 150-200 depending on the time of year. I have a 45 gallon tank and we make a few gallons of drinking water a week with it so its not being used heavily.
Should I be going through the sediment and carbon filters so quickly? Will the new Zeta Zorb help with my situation?
Thanks for any help.

What did you expect. You replaced SpectraPure's filters with some other brand. If you had their oringinal filters they would last much longer.

I had to do some investigating. Our records would indicate that they do sell our 0.5 micron Sediment Filter, but I do not recognize the carbons, from the photo, as being what we sell.
In any case, PM me with your shipping info and we will send you a ZetaZorb to try. If it works for you, you have a solution; if not, you have a rare situation that will require more extensive filtration methods.

Did you click on the link? Those are labeled as SpectraPure filters and Premium Aquatics isnt exactly "Joes Fish Supplies" so Im sure they are not trying to pull a fast one.
Scott-The pictures on Premium Aquatics website arent the same as the ones I receive. Dont look at the pictures as a go by. I unfortunately dont have any unopened filters onhand to take a picture for you. They dont say SpectraPure at all on them but another brand which I assumed were making them for you. Something like "KX" was the brand listed.
In any event, whatever I get clogs real fast. Since I didnt receive a reply right away, I had to get some new filters onhand as the ones Im using are two weeks old now and they wont last much longer. I placed an order last night from you for the Zeta Zorb, carbon and both the MaxCap DI and Silica Buster DI along with some other odds and ends.
I will let you know how it turns out when I get them.
Thanks

Just wanted to update this thread. Its been a month since I installed my Zeta Zorb. Its been reading 66psi for the entire month and hasnt dropped in pressure at all. So far this thing seems to be doing the trick.
Now if I can get 3 months out of them, then it will be worth the double pricetag over the standard sediment filters.

One other thing, the filters from Premium Aquatics were sold as Spectrapure brand filters but they were sending KX brand. You never let me know if those are what you sell.
If not, Ill be giving them a call.....

I'm glad the Zeta Zorb is working for you. It really is the filter of last resort. It is standard equipment in our new 1:1 UHE system.
The other subject is more touchy. I can make two definitive statements:
1. We do sell our replacement pre-filters to PA for re-sale.
2. We do not handle the KX-brand of filters.
