Replacing pump on Octopus Recirc 150

Well it was either me mesh-modding the pump killed it or it was just its time. I am now looking to change out the pump. It is currently using the stock Octopus 2000. I was thinking of going to an Octopus 3000 or another pump. Has anyone had any success with switching out skimmer pumps? Any recommendations for replacement pumps?

The OTP-3000 is a better pump than the OTP-2000 (in my opinion). You could likely replace the 2000 with a 3000, but you would have to get creative with your plumbing.
