I have a 40g acrylic bow front and want to know what lighting is recommended. Going to have 50# LR, some fish and coral. Sump and fuge in stand. The new tank (SeaClear, 30w x 20h x 18d, approx.) came with a canopy and one fixture for one bulb, 24" long. I can add probably one or two fixtures for bulbs. Suggestions please.

What sort of corals do you want to keep? That'll be the deciding factor with respect to your lighting requirements.

It really depends on what type of lights you want to run: MH, t-5, vho, pc's...etc.... When I had a 46 bow I ran 2-175watt mh on it. What are you looking to keep in the tank?

I have not decided. What would work for just about anything??

i have a 40 breeder a little different dimensions but i have a MH 150w 10000k 96watt actinic right now and on the way i have a 39watt T5 10000 k with good reflector with out the T5 its awesome but i want more and that works great for my setup. It cost about 400$ after all was said and done with the retrofit and the building of the canopy and a few new tools i needed. So for whatever thats worth.....it works for me!
