I just bought a used RO/DI unit produced by Kent (Maxxima 50gpd). I am testing the water outputing after the DI section, and my TDS meter is reading 6ppm. That has been pretty consistent so far with production. With that in mind, what should I do to get the water down to 0TDS?

Also, should the waste water output be less or more TDS than my tap? I thought that this had already gone through the RO unit and should be less, but my meter always shows it to be more.

Replace your DI cartridge, its exhausted.

Ive never really tested my wastewater TDS, since it goes down the drain. It would make some sense that it would be higher, all the TDS would be concentrated in a smaller volume of water. What you do want to check is the TDS coming out of the membrane, prior to it going to the DI.

How do I check that? Is that an inline gauge or something?
