OK I have had this algae problem the last week or so. I started by having a little bit of red hair-like stuff on my rocks, now it is going crazy and spreading and it has started to grow up and looks like a canvas that attatches from two pieces of rocks ! its has lots of hair like strands off it it too.
My tank is 30g, RO/DI changes, 7hour lighting which was 8hours until ive noticed this, cut back on feeding, have turbo snails, margarita's, gobies, good cleaning crew.
any ideas ! ?

Check your phos level if you can. Your LFS may be able to do this for free for you. If you have a problem with phos, do a good water change and throw some kind of phos absorber in the filter/sump. Cut back on feeding, and you may also want to try and do like 3 days of no lights. Also, check your nitrates and make sure that they aren't creeping up. Usually algae blooms are due to an increase in nitrates/phos...which is usually secondary to overfeeding, decaying species, or not doing proper water changes.

I put some phosban in my filter and that helped.
