Moved three states away from home...couldn't bring my reef tank so I want to start a FOWLR...Bought a 40 gal...I want triggers or fuzzy dwarf lion...Any suggestions on amount of fish and type. Is 40 gal too small for triggers...Can triggers and fuzzy dwarfs coexist? What about tangs as far as tank size and coexistence with the afore mentioned fish.

I will have 40 gal...60 lbs sand(I like deep beds)...50 lbs rock...prizm skimmer, millennium wet/dry, and eheim 2222.

i think a fuzzy dwarf would be good, but a trigger would out grow a 40g very fast, and it might try to pick on the dwarf. Triggers get big and mean as they age. They are messy eaters too.

there was a conversation on here a few weeks ago suggesting that a trigger will last a little while in a 20L or something like that

I've got a small (2") picasso thats in QT now, going into the 40BR next week

I got it because its my favorite fish and I graduate in 2 years, so by that time he'll be ready to upgrade tanks and I"ll give him away to someone with a bigger one, but Ive been told numerous times by very experienced people in this forum that the fish will be just fine for a few years in the 40BR

the only problem with the trigger would be that he'd probably need to be the only one....mine is very active in the QT and I can tell he's gonna want the 40BR all to himself, despite his small size

yeah, i have heard reports that they will be more aggressive if they are confined to a smaller space, so i smaller fish may work for a little while, but will out grow it quite fast...

U just got a 3.5" picasso today... he acclimated well, but he seems lonely in my 75g all by him self.

Think ima go with a valentini puffer and fuzzy dwarf...maybe another small fish and thats it...I've had battles and I hate the headache of wondering if the fish will survive til the morning to get it to the store.
