View Full Version : Hooks for Vortechs & Cleaning Tool

Hey Scott, wondering if you can help. I saw in the manual that the Vortechs come with hooks that attach above the dryside - holding it in place. Since I bought all four of mine used (barely used) - none of them came with this. Can I purchase four hooks? I don't even know what they look like but the have to be nicer looking than the 10 layers of Scotch tape I have up there now.

Second, I use the Kent Scraper with metal blade and its great. However, the back of my tank is so hard to scrape since the Kent scraper flexes. Is there another option that you sell or you can get with a more firm shaft (that sounded bad). The back of my tank is against the wall and getting to the middle is just impossible.

Last - I'm looking for some QUALITY black backing. Slovan used some on this tank in this thread (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1190982) - just wondering if you can get that stuff?

I will ask Tim to send you some @ no charge. As far as the backing goes, do you know who the Mfg. is? The Algae Free mags/ and scrapers are awesome but I don't know if that will help you with this "hard to reach" area.

Awe bummer, that link no longer works. I can check to see if slovan knows. It doesn't have to be the same, if you have some that you'd recommend. My tank is 24" long (EDIT - 24" TALL) and I'd need about 2 yards of it.

Thanks for the hooks. Any ideas for a scraper?

Heh, sorry didn't see that. Unfortunately the back of the tank is up against the wall and I can't use a magnet. Maybe I can just tape a razor blade to a 9-iron. :) Oh I need a Picture Box also, chetm took some great shots with his. OK, its beer time, I'll check back tomorrow. :)

We could call the new device Fligler Made. Actually there are scrapers on the market that have a handle...Pet Farts carries them :D
