Could I get some comments on the use of AC with SPS? Do you want nutrients for the SPS to consume or do you want these "impurities" removed? Thanks.

do a search using GAC

(granular activated carbon)

I use activated carbon periodically not so much to remove "impurities" since a healthy SPS system should be fairly clean. I think the carbon really help with water clarity and improving light penetration especially if you have a deep tank. The added benefit of any harmful organic waste is an added bonus. A few days after running carbon, I believe my tank looks a bit clearer and my coral seems happier. I beleve this is because they are getting a bit more light.

I run carbon 24/7 in my phosban reactor.
