It is possible but your two clownfish may be too big. The 4 inch one is female and the 2 inch one might be also. If they both are it most likely wont work.

If they are both female, it absolutely CANNOT work. Clownfish can't change back to male once they become female.

If the orange one has been by itself for several months, I'd say the safer bet would be to leave them separate.

I agree, two females won´t work.
i however have a mixed pair and it´s far more exicting then two of the same kind....P.S i assume you are talking about occelaris..

I have a mated pair of oscellaris - black male & orange female. Have successfully raised 3 clutches of eggs from them. Oldest group is 100+ days.

Cool...how do the offspring look? A fairly equal population of orange and black, or are they predominantly one coloration or the other?

Right now they're all orange. I was told in the Fish Breeding Forum that they should not turn black until 6 - 8 months. Right now they're just over 100 days old, so I'm over half way there.

Very cool. Definitely keep us posted...I love reading about people's breeding success (I plan to raise the fry at some point should my pair ever start spawning...they're a bit small for it right now though.)

if i was to get 1 orange and 1 black clown of the same size would they live as a pair if i did not know the sex of them?

As long as they were both fairly young, you'd have a decent chance. For best chances of success, get one clown that is noticeably smaller than the other. This seems to make the process of asserting dominance faster and less violent.

would these fish be ok along with clowns
1 Royal Dotty back
1 Bicolor Blenny
1 Blue Tang
1 Green Mandarin

1 Cleaner Shrimp

does anyone know of any problems if these are mixed?

does the clean up crew add a lot to the ammonia levels?
