another dogface ?

i just bought a small dogface puffer when the gentleman at the lfs whom i truly trust and is a great place with healthy fish. but when he took t he puffer out of the display he puffed up and when i returned home he was back to normal except there is a pretty noticeable bubble still on him an hour and fifteen minutes later like he did not get all the air out should i be worried?

did it puff up while out of water? that can easily kill the puffer

I would recommend placing the puffer in a dimly lit hospital tank or QT (no other tank mates) and see if it can expel the air on its own.....this is usually the case.

Massaging or handling the puffer can disrupt the integrity of the skin/mucous layer and cause problems.

If the air pocket does not go away in a couple of hours - place the puffer either in a plastic vented critter box or under an upside down colander. Weight either so it will stay on the bottom. Make sure the box or colander has good water flow/circulation.

This will usually aid in the expelling of air in a few hours.
