View Full Version : Hypo or no??

I have a 3" Pacific Blue Tang, small true perc and a bangai cardinal in my 55 gallon fowlr.

I added the pacific blue about three weeks ago and in the last 3 days he is covered in white spots (off and on). Tonight when I came home he looked clean except for a few black spots on his skin (maybe where the parasite fell off?)

Is this most likely ich? Should I remove my snails and do hypo? I am familiar with the procedure. If it is going to keep coming back I would rather nuke it now.

I would take a pic but as soon as I get within range he scoots into the rocks.

No worries tang police, he is going into a very generous 240 Gallon plywood tank in a few weeks or after 6 weeks of hypo.

Thanks,

Dan

I'd probably run hypo, but a picture might help.

I would take a pic if I could. If it helps the white spots were raised off of the skin, 2-3mm in size and when they "move or dissapear" there is a black spot on his skin.

That sounds more like marine ich than anything else to me, but I have no useful experience with fish diseases.

It was the stereotypical white spots all over the fish.

Well, I guess I should do it. Unless anyone has any other ideas I think it is the smart thing to do.
