Very rarely do i get P'OD about my tank. However. I came home, and i saw a small leak. I have worked and worked on my tank. "14 year old budget". And, I finally have everything going for me. and i come home to this. What should i do? i put some of this epoxy on it to stop it. However, should i call oceanic and get it replaced? its a 29g BC.I just finally got everything settled in. coralline algae and my corals and...man i.."sigh".
What would you do?
Thanks

Where on the tank is it leaking from?

I would make sure you have some sort of tank on hand in case all hell breaks loose - at least you'll have somewhere to put everything... Not that acrylic should behave like that...?

It should not take long for stuff to establish again in the tank if you do it soon. It is better going that way then coming one day and no water in the tank. If there is a leak from the seam and you stopped it then how would you know that it will not open again. I am not sure what oceanic quarantee is on BC tanks but it won't hurt to find out from the website or wherever you bought it from. I personally won't take a risk. I have suggested to a local school (120 Gal) once that the tank will leak someday the way it was sitting on the stand and it happend (it was a bad day). Good luck and please keep us posted.

Man that's a bummer. I think that if you have done any modding to the tank itself, then you void the warrantee. I agree, it's worth a call to see if you can get a new one. Maybe you could house your inhabitants in a temp container to drain the bc and repair it yourself. If the glass is cracked then forget it. Don't think thats a wise move since that tank is pretty thin anyways.

HI guys, thanks. The leak is in the seam, towards the bottom. The epoxy seems to be doing the job, but. Like y'all said, i don't want to take the risk. But, ( brainstorming) what if i put the silicon stuff at Drfostersmith. It says it drys underwater.
Ill call around and c what i can do. Ill keep you updated.
thanks again 3fins.
