Hello. I tested my Mg with a salifert test kit. It is indicating that it is low.
What does everyone use to boost their Mg. In addition, is there anything I need to know about increasing my Mg levels?
The Mg tested at 1100 which is low.
By the way, my Ca is 450 and my alk is 9-10dkh which is good. I do have a Ca reactor which keeps those levels stable.
Thanks!

Kent makes a product called Tech M, you can use that to raise the levels. A number of companies make Mag. You can use epsom salt which is Magnesium sulfate. The RC calc will give you the dosage.

I use Kent's Tech-M and very happy with the results. :)

Tech-M was fine for me as well, but Salifert, Warner, and ESV also make good magnesium supplements.

Thanks for the replies! I will see which one is available in my local store.

Those of you that dose Mg...do you just dump it in the tank after mixing the solution? Or drip it into your sump?

I answered in NTTH. Magnesium supplements can be dumped into the tank, up to 100 ppm per day.

magnesium levels are slow to bring up to 1300 but once they are at the level it doesn't take much dosing to keep them there. Magnesium is used up only a small fraction compared to calcium.

Yeah, I am noticing that it is taking A LOT of solution to try to get the Mg up. It still hasn't budged :(.
