Hey all. I'm looking at putting together another tank, and was going to use a nice little 15g. Gonna change it over from a fresh water to marine. I would like to make it a little reef tank, and put some corals in and possibly a couple of small fish.. Maybe firefish or something "cute" (that's what my wife wants) like that. Since it's an existing tank, and it doesn't have one of those built in sumps, I was thinking of using one of those Skilter filters. I know that sizewise the tank is small enough for them, but do you think that the output from the filter would be slow enought for the fish, and fast enough for some soft corals like frog spawn or something similar?

I'm not familiar with the Skilter, but many reefers supplement the flow in their nanos with a Koralia nano, Koralia 1, or a Tunze nano stream pump. One of those would be great for a 15G without making your cute little fish feel like it's in a blender.

Are those just small powerheads?

I would think it wouldn't hurt to run a power head also even if its just a mini jet or something. The Skilters sound nice, but I have personally never used or heard anything about them. I was checking some out a few weeks ago at a LFS.
