Hello;

I am thinking about starting a reef tank and am currently in the planning stages. I'm aiming for a tank that will reflect a slice of the Tuamoto Islands (French Polynesia).

Based on web searches, I know that Porites is a common coral in this region, but more detailed information is generally lacking. I have a list of Tuamoto-specific fish (courtesy of fishbase.org), but I can't seem to find similarly detailed info regarding coral species.

So... Of the many available (and sometimes expensive) books about corals, which would be my best bet to find out exactly which coral species can be found in the Tuamotos? Is there a coral-related website similar to fishbase.org that might be useful?

This will be my first saltwater/reef tank. I know it will be several years before my skills and knowledge are up to the task of keeping SPS, but I think that knowing what species the tank will eventually hold will help in initially setting it up!

Thanks for any and all replies!
