Can I use bottled water from the grocery to top off my tank?

I'd use distilled water. Those products seem to be fine. Spring water is more dangerous, in my opinion.

Some grocery stores sell RO water from a dispenser which could be cheaper than bottled water too IMO. For example the store by me sells it for $.25 a gal.

Bottled water can be suspect. A lot of them are spring water, which may come from sources that contain all kinds of bad stuff. Some of the in store treatment systems can be a poor option also. Distilled would be the best choice if you must.

In the long run your own in-house RO unit will be the best choice. Not only will you not have to lug containers, but you will have control over the quality of the water. PLUS...it will make pure, great tasting water saving you from having to buy bottled drinking water.

I remember seeing something on the news a while back claiming bottled water is dangerous.so i would only use distilled or ro/di.

Best choice(in my opinion) is to get declorinator. I`m only a newb to salt water so don`t worry about the thing on my account that says newb.

Some of the bottle water has minerals added to it and this is not good for your aquarium.
