All of my SPS is kickin butt except for my grape granulosa i got earlier this year. It hasn't grown hardly at all and usually doesn't have any PE. Over the last few weeks i've noticed some white areas of tissue where the polyps should be.

Here's a pic

Can someone tell me what they like for lighting and flow. Right now its high up in the tank and isn't getting that great of flow but i would call it low-medium. I run 400 watt MH's, maybe it's too high in the tank? I'm wondering if it's sunburn?

Any help would be great.

It is a slow growe, once its done encrusting, it will start growing for you though

Any idea on the white blotches?

It looks like something is picking at it. Have you added any live stock lately? If all other Sps are fine and this is the only one affected then I would not worry too much . Just relocate it to a different spot in the tank until it finds a place to settle in. I do nopt like the white looking areas as that is a bad sign. I could be STN but give it some real love and I am sure it will be ok. Like i said try moving it up or down left or right until it heals.

I can't get a granulosa to grow. Another is sarmentosa....those 2 elude me perpetually so I just gave up...but thats just me. Its not ever going to give you dominant growth particularly at frag size like that. Your looking at years to get a good size colony on that puppy.

I have 2 different granulosas. One grows like a weed under high light/flow, the other demands low/moderate lighting and is a very slow grower. Luckily the rainbow granulosa is the fast grower.

The other is very similiar to yours. Again, I'd move it towards the bottom, make sure it gets decent flow and see how it does. The missing polyps are disconcerting however, and more than likely something is picking at it.

There is a pretty big red crab that i thought was reef safe that lives near this frag. I will definitely try moving it lower in the tank and try to get it more flow.

Thanks for the help.

I have a green with blue tips that until now has done nothing. However, since the bulb change, houston, I have growth tips. It takes a while Bet the problem with white spots is the crab.
