I do have one on a 18" deep tank and I love it. Their very bright. Color is a white with just a hint of blue... more like 10,000 k.

Will it fire on a PFO magnetic ballast?

You can grow acro's at the bottom of a 30" tank with the Iwasaki 175w 15k

Great bulb, I use it on my 22" Tall tank, I can grow pretty much anything all over the tank.

i am thinking of running 2 of these in lumenarc reflectors over a 60x30x24... should this be enough?

Yes

You can keep SPS happy at 30" deep with that set up.

Man I'm tempted to bring my dual 175w mag ballast out of retirement and go with these bulbs as they give way more PAR than the 250w 12k Reeflux bulbs.... anyone have any word if they're ever going to make a 250w version of the bulbs?

Only problem with that is the big par numbers are achieved with the electronic balasts.

Still have decent par with the mag's though.

True the e-ballasts do more, but still the old mag ballasts give more par than my electronic ballast with the 250w bulbs I use.

Which is more blue, the Iwasaki or the Hamilton?

I've done a little research, and this is the next bulb to go over my 20H once my Hamilton 10k goes out.

I've got a pair of the iwasaki's running on ice cap ballasts in a pfo parallel reflector on my 40 breeder. I am going to add 2 VHO's for actinic supplement, but it definitely isn't a necessity. These puppies outperform just about every one of the 250 watt 10K bulbs. They also last a long time compared to other bulbs, mine have been running about 8 months and show no signs of slowing down.

Can we see some pics from you guys running the 175w 14k iwasaki's? Id like to see some tanks running the 14ks Iwasaki's alone, then some running 14k Iwasaki's w/ actinics :) .
