Plan to start buying mainly acropora but maybe some other types of SPS. Any tips when buying from your LFS??



I plan to wait for my water test from AWT before adding any to my tank.

spec on tank:
90gal display 37gal sump
2x 250mh de
tunze wavebox
tunze nano 6045 modded and k4.....30x turnover. might add another nanostream but i don't think its needed right now.
skimmer- DAS ex-2
posban reactor
carbon reactor
ozone reactor

Yes, I always make sure to look for polyp extension at the LFS. If it is happy and showing polyps then it is likely healthy. Don't buy a coral that you can't see some polyp extension on. Also, look for any areas of bleaching or tissue loss. I know this sounds obvious, but it is sometimes easy to overlook these things. Also, if the colors are really nice, it is likely healthy. However, still look at it as closely as possible and make sure there aren't any redbugs or flatworms.
