"to drill or not to drill" - I'm putting together a 29 tank and am thinking of getting the tank drilled. It seems that the LFS says don't get the glass tank drilled because eventually it all cracks and breaks, just buy and overflow box instead. Others tell me that getting it drilled is better. I'm confused! How many of you have had overflow boxes overflow onto the floor? I'm scared of floods!

I also want to get some starboard/plastic cutting board for the tank bottom as the tank will be bare bottom. Where's the best place to get custom cut starboard?

Thanks in advance for all the great advice that I get from this board!

Some simple truths about tank setup:

- drilled is always > not drilled
- overflows are a tool of the Devil
- always take the advice of someone trying to sell you something with a grain of salt

There you go. Properly drilled and bulkheaded tanks are no more likely to crack than any other tank. And regardless of your design, overflows suck in every way.
