My tank setup is a 55 gallon salt water with live Arag sand and a small amount of Tonga Branch rock that I will be adding more live rock to.

My question is what effect does putting on my UV turbo have on growing good Coraline algae.

I have not put it on since I had the live rock. I do see various colors of Algae growing.

I am mainly interested in building up my ability to lower nitrates through my live rock and live sand, so I guess I am very interested in growing my Coraline Algae. I ordered a calcium test kit, so I will make sure calcium is good. I have basic lighting and have my lights on 10 hours a day.

How long should it take, before my live rock and sand have an effect on my nitrates.

Thanks much,
