Last time I tried that one chewed the tail off the other.

I believe that they are like clownfish. One will mature into a female if there is a pair.

You'll need to get someone else confirm that though.

Clownfish are damselfish. It is my understanding that the yellowtail will follow the same sex change as clownfish. However, there is little sexual dimorphism in yellowtails (differences between physical characteristics of the sexes).
