View Full Version : Echinophyllia Frag is releasing stringy stuff??

I do not know a better way to put it. I just received a frag of it and now it is releasing a bunch of stringy stuff all over my tank. Is this something I should be worried about.

A lot of corals will slime when put into a new tank.

Most likely mucus, possibly mesenterial filaments. Picture?

MC sax is far more knowledgeable, but it sounds like messenterial filaments. FWIW make sure no other corals are near it or "warfare" will ensue.

The stringy slime is all over the tank now, I juiced up the flow to try to keep it from sticking to anything. Are my other fish/corals in any danger from this. I did a water change and added more carbon thinging that might help. I dont see any stress in the tank yet but I would like to prevent any stressful situation from popping up.
