I am setting up a new 300 acrylic and looking for a ideas on a return pump. I will be putting 2" drains in each overflow; I am looking for a pump that is quiet, dependable, low heat and electric. thanks Jeff

Blue line/Panworld pumps are quiet, efficient, and resonably priced.

If you're more of the Tim Allen kind of guy and want something that kicks like a big block chevy, check out Sequence Reeflo pumps like hammerheads, or tigersharks.

My hammerhead is in the basement, dialed back to 50
% and still cranks!

depends on the application

how many feet of pressure head? will you be attaching eductors to the returns? if so, you will need a pressure rated pump like a Pan World or Iwaki. I have a 300g acrylic display and run a Pan World 250 with 4 eductors at the ends of the returns. Eductors increase flow substantially but because they cause a bit of back pressure they require a pressure rated pump. Sequence Barracuda is a great pump but not a good choice if you need a pressure rated pump. I run a Barracuda on my CL.
