View Full Version : MP40 users a low priority ?

With the MP40-WD selling strong, I would imagine selling the wave controller separate will be a low priority.
Why would ecotech pass on a sale worth $200 in mark-up over one good for maybe $20 profit?
Probably best to sell our MP-40's and buy a MP40-WD.

The wave controller (WWD) has been selling separately as an upgrade. They took pre orders in late August - early September and started shipping them last week. You can get the upgrade from Aquarium Specialty. The MP-40WD was just released for sale this week.
You just order the WWD and use with your current pump and you have the MP40-WD.

I'm curious, the website says to order now, and pay now, but not that long ago he simply said to send him an email with my name/address to get on a list. Will those who pony up the money up front be given priority for the next batch?
Also is aquatiumspeciality the only ones who'll have the drivers?

Hmm, I'm confused, I guess sending my info was pointless?

We understand that...
We were specifically asked to give our information in order to be on a list for when they have more. That is why I am confused. If I had not checked here I would not have known they were opened up on the website for orders, and again, might have been late to the party in getting a pre-order.
Also, they are not exactly on sale, they are taking orders for when they may have more in 2-3 weeks, very much like before but with no rebate.....
"Currently out of stock but we are now accepting orders again. The ETA for the shipment of WWD's may be 2-3 weeks as of 10/12/07. You will charged at the time of pre-order so please keep that in mind when ordering. The price is $75.00 per driver with no rebate. The rebate offer is no longer available and no driver exchange is necessary."
Anyways, I ordered them. And can't wait! I am just glad I finally have an official "line" to stand in with mr VISA holding my spot... I can be patient now.. .. lol :)

I see the upgrade for $75 that should be in stock and ready to ship in 2-3 weeks available, as well as the full MP-40w Kysard?
I don't think they are sold out.

yeah they're out of stock, or really bad with updating their webpage. I think the original point of the whole thread is more or less true, that they're pushing more effort into the pump/driver combo at the manufacturing levels, this is smart business sense though as they want to make sure people have pumps first (with wireless drivers as a bonus) so their product and what it does gets out there so there's no delays and people don't have the opportunity to go with a competitors product simply because their product was not on shelves. Unfortunately this does seem to come at the expense of giving the shaft to those who had early faith, since now they need to wait until only the driver portion gets made.
I'm not worrying too much though, they just recently got approval through the FCC so I'm guessing the 100 or so they shipped to the exclusive(??) store were products that were made before they had approval, and not wanting to have a pile of inventory that they legally couldn't sell without modifications they probably didn't want to make any more. They will make more, there's no doubt about that, but the cargo ships from China do take a while to get to the US ;)

If these are built in China, I'm not worried. High volume is never a problem there.
I thought these were assembled here in the USA, where labor is high and volume is usually a problem.

Oh well.. It will give everyone a chance to work out the glitches in making a wave before mine arrive... :)
