View Full Version : TDS Meter and Color Changing DI Resin

I use a color changing DI resin. I also use a TDS Meter. Upon changing the Resin I always get zero TDS on the meter. However after the resin starts changing color say maybe the bottom 1 to 1 and 1/2 inch of the resin the TDS starts climbing.

I guess I have 2 questions. My TDS meter is digital and has 3 digits. Can I assume that 001 TDS is actually .001 and of no concern? (a thousanth) I have been changing the resin when the meter reads 001 and gosh I go through a ton of this stuff and it's not inexpensive.

The second part of my question is at what point should I change the resin? .100 or some measurment before that?

Any help would be welcomed.

Pat

When the meter reads 001 its 1ppm. You may have other issues with your unit if your getting readings with that little use of your DI

I have found that the color changing resin is a waste, at least for me. Mine changes colors long before my TDS meter starts showing any TDS. It's good for a quick visual but I think many people prematurely change the resin because they don't want to buy a TDS meter.
