Does anyone have a picture of their Acropora Lokani?

Pleasantly surprised as this coral usually grows slower every other time I've tried, but in this tank is has taken off.

That tank has a single DE 250 watt HQI 14K Phoenix on a PFO ballast as well as four T5HO flourescents ( 2 D&D Actinic + and 2 D&D True Actinic) run on an Ice Cap 660 ballast.

Could be, although it does have the characteristic tapered branch ends of Lokani. The 4 colonies all look quite a bit different from each other, so it wouldn't shock me if it was something else. That one is actually the only one I purchased as a wild colony, and is quite a bit more dense than the others.

You're crazy Sang! I think you bayarea reefers have the best collection. As matter of fact, I got the Echinata from Ming Wei last year.

I found this picture of the same echinata frag (3 polyp) back in 2006 next to my Oregon tort. What a difference a year makes.

really, from atlantis? Everyone raves about the aquascene echinata but I was at atlantis the other day and ming wei's echinata rivals james' if not even deeper blue than his. Im suprised your echinata is so light. Mine is a royal blue

naka
11/07/2007, 10:12 PM
I got it from Ming (Atlantis) as James @ Aquascene's true echinata. I believe Ming has both versions. He rarely sells the "fire and ice"

I wonder why the shaded underside is starting to turn purple first?? hmm??.....

Scissorhand
11/20/2007, 10:13 AM
John, hah hah, no problem, just let it color up first.

The underside is purple because it is an aquacultured colony and it was mounted vertically. Now that it's horizontal, the light purplish nubs that you see on top are also turning purple.

Lagger
11/20/2007, 10:20 AM
Well it looks like it was mounted horizontally in the ocean based on the directional growth. Just suprised it's taken off on the underside ;)
