they are in the same family so they are closely related and can be even on temperment which can be very bold to say the least, and 170 is a deal from what ive seen, i do recommend taking a look at petsolutions.com and seeing if they have it in stock, they are a little closer and most likely cheaper, they also have a guarentee on their fish, i do like mystery wrasses though but the cheapest i have seen them around me has 275 and they were tiny and not very healthy looking

Mine eats shrimp and will chase small fish placed in the tank after it. They are bold and not trustworthy! But you never know, you could get lucky..

I've heard that they are less aggressive than other members of the genus (such as the six and four line wrasses), but when they do get to be large they are very capable of eating small shrimp, it'll just depend on the personality of the fish as much as a dwarf angel's personality depends on whether they will bother corals. Just from what I've read, I'd say it's a worthy risk to take, but I have no personal experience with this species, though I do have experience with the genus.

I'd say go for it. Just be careful about adding small peaceful fish afterwards.

Has any parent heard the word NO !!!Its a $170.00 plus $40.00 to ship and the fish is usually the first one you want out of the tank but you paid sooo much you keep it and it kills others during its stay. No is a good word to teach our kids today .. Show her other pretty pictures of fish she can afford and perhaps help her in her purchase. thats my idea amyhew

Dont get me wrong, It's one of my favorite fish, but as he gets bigger he gets a little more agressive. He has never looked at coral, but he will eat almost any food, especially medium size Formula one or two pellets.....

My mystery wrasse is the coolest fish in my tank. I've never had any issues with it and it is not aggressive at all. However, I can never add another wrasse as long as its in the tank because it is VERY aggressive towards other wrasses. However, it is a very fascinating and beautiful fish to watch eat and hunt for pods.

I thought the same until I added a yellow coris wrasse. It's not a true coris but thats what they call it..No problems at all...

My mystery was my first wrasse in my tank. I now have 17 different wrasses and he has never harmed any of them.

It's my rabbitfish that I've had for over 3 years now, ever since it was about 2 inches long.

My tank is 225 gallons and has been up and running for 16 months now.

Nice rabbitfish, I was thinking about getting one. How is his temper with others, does he go after any coral or shrimp, and is he a pig at feeding time.....

Great looking tank by the way!!

Thank you, He has a very mild temper, very timid and he doesn't go after any coral or shrimp. I have 4 cleaner shrimp in there and he is first in line to get cleaned. He is a pig though when it comes to feeding time.

Fist off that is a beatiful tank and the water is so clear.
2nd. I would venture to say that if 10 people added a mystery wrasse first and then added other wrasses that 7 out of the 10 would have alot of dead wrasses or other fish for that matter.
Most people wish they never bought there mystery wrasses as I said most. There are exceptions to all and who knows it may be the size of the tank you put the mystery in I dont know but you hear alot of horror stories.
