my bta is in my 46gal bowfront, with 192watt power compacts, as the light source. and seems to be healthy. but his tenacles stay extended and don't form bubbles. do i have enough light.

The lighting you have will suffice. Make sure you feed it.
There is no proven answer as to what affects the formation of the bubbles.

Exactly, I've keep them under both PCs and MH, no bubbles.

i had my bta under 220w VHOs & it lost some color after about 3 months. i have since upgraded to t5s.
just keep an eye out & see if it starts to lose some of it's color.
