Skimmer pump will not start on its own.

I have question.... I have had a ER RS135 for about 7 months now and for the past several months I have had to physically put my hand over the water intake for it to start.

I have never made a mod on the pump, I have taken the impeller out and cleaned everything but it has not helped the issue.

If you have any suggestions, they would be appreciated.
