Im curious as to what the appropiate amount of time is to have my lights on in my tank. I currently have just the standard 1 tube florecent (sp) lights that came with my 55 gal tank. I have a FOWLR tank and im notcing im getting alot of brown growth on my LR and other places in my tank. I have my lights on for about 8 to 10 hours a day. I do plan on buying T5 HO when i can afford it but i have to mike due with what i got and the brown growth is ugly! I am having nitrate problems with my nitrate at 40-50PPM
i know nitrate is what creates algea correct could that be the reason instead of the lights?
