Why do some of the RS80's come with the GenX pumps and some with the modified Sedra? Is one slightly better than the other. Not sure which one I would want.
Thanks guys,

the Sedra is on a 5-2, not a RS-80

Since they are the same price, would you go for the sedra or the genX. Right now I have an RS100 with a sedra and I think it's too big for my tank (40g). I never keep a consistent foam head. I wanted to go down to the RS80 hoping that would make it better but be able to use both Sedras interchangeably. Basically, use the Sedra 3500 from my RS100 as a back up. Will the Sedra 3500 also fit on these RS80s (even though they come with a GenX pump) or am I better off with the 5-2? Also, is the RS80 also too big for a 40g tank with small bioload?
ER you guys need to make a skimmer smaller than the RS80 and bigger than the nano to fit 40-50gallon tanks.
Thanks guys, these blem skimmers are sure to be a hit.

i ordered the RS80 w/ the GenX, my other ERs all have Sedra pumps.
i don't see why you'd be having problems with your current skimmer unless you're adding something to the tank to collapse the foam. i run a CS12-2 RC on my 180g and it's always performed flawlessly even though it's rated for a tank of 400+ gallon.

Personally I just don't think there's enough protein in the tank to keep the foam in the 3.5" neck. Usually it all just collects on the inside of the neck. I have the water level set to about half way up the neck. If I feed heavily, I can usually get a decent head of foam which I can then lift the riser tube to put it into the collection cup. But otherwise, it just never has enough. If I turn it off for a few days and restart, it will again foam up nicely but only for a little bit. I think with a smaller neck diameter, I would have better success. Do you know what the neck diameter is on the 5-2? It wasn't listed on their website.

I've been trying to order an RS100 blem today, but the website keeps rejecting it. When I enter my credit card number, it says "This transaction cannot be accepted" with no indication why. I know that my credit card is good and I've double checked the numbers/expiration/security code. Is something wrong with the site?

It's been 3 days since I posted in this thread and also emailed them regarding problems with trying to order a skimmer. I've got no response in either forum. If this is what their customer service is like when I'm trying to give them money, it doesn't bode well for their CS after they've already got the money.

Seems like they've abandoned their forum for the last week or so. Strange.
