what to feed my pipefish and how?

I was snorkeling today and found some type of pipefish (I will post pics tomorrow) but the problem is that is in my reef with other fishes. He have not been attack but Im a little worried, next saturday I will set up the new fuge in the tank so I will enter him in when is done.

I will buy tomorrow some brine eggs to hatch so what else can I feed him and how?

You can feed them baby brine shrimp if they will eat them. Feed them out within 6 hours after the hatch. This means you will constantly have to culture BBS. Its best to decap the eggs first ... it makes them more nutritious. seahorsesource sells eggs already recapped.

Another option, albeit more expensive is to get snicking shrimp from seawater express. You can get them in veraious sizes.

Try to get them acclimated to cyclopeze. they might not eat it at first.

If they are bigger in size, try frozen mysis shrimp. The hikari brand is fairly small in the blister packs. There is also a brand called mini mysis that are small.

My 3 types in a mixed reef all seem to like cyclops, but one key to their survival is "Arctipods" by Reef Nutrition. Many of my fish like the arctipods, but they are too small for the tangs and bigger fish to be interested, and therefore they stay in the water column much longer, especially when fed at lights-out time when the competition goes to sleep and the pipes are most active. They seem to be doing great, and feeding the cyclops, arctipods, and some daphnia at the same time as the big fish are getting mysis, a few bloodworms, and brine seems to be working great.

Ocean Nutrition has another brand called H2O Life. Not many places carry them but they sell a mini mysis, it is about 1/2 the size of the Hikari. Even my bluestriped pipefish eat them and my blue stripes are only 2 1/2 inches long. Good for all the other fish as well, even picky eaters seem to accept them.

Arctipods and cyclops. For some reason, mine have never taken mysis (big or small). I keep bluestripe, Janess, multibanded and my favorite, dragonface.

Thanks, I identify him today is a Cosmocampus albirostris "whitenose pipefish".

Finnaly got him to eat, today he ate baby brine and my mix food(frozen formula 2, dried plankton, dried krill, formula 2 pellets and garlic). He is in a fish breeder until I got the fuge and put him there. I will take out my fishes soon to convert my reef in a seahorse tank.
