i recently aquired a nano cube 12. will this be fine for a seahorse? also can i put zoa's with them? would a 70 mh light be good for the light?

IMO a 12g is only good for dwarf seahorses. The smallest tank that I have ever heard of anyone using for SH would be a 29 gal. I'm sure some more experienced people will jump in soon.

H. capensis and maybe H breviceps are small enough for a 12G, but they are both cold water species. You would need a nano chiller or ice probe to get the temps into the 60s.

Seahorses only need light enough to see and some, like H. capensis don't like a lot of light.

My advise would be to establish a setup specifically for seahorses. There seems to more info on H. reidi and H. erectus than any other species. Those would be good starter horses imo. Think tall tank for starters.

BTW a 12 gallon is too large for dwarfs unless you had a very large herd. They also require live food which greatly complicates keeping them.
