i have been running my tank for about 6 months now, and last week my heater broke and it released chmeicals into the water, and it killed my tangs. i put some carbon in my filter and all of a sudden there is greeninsh algae all over the glass on my tank. i dont know why this is happening but it is getting really anoying to have to keep scrubbing it off.
also i have these little brown spots about the size of a small bead that i have to rub really hard to get off.
i was wondering if there is a fish that would eat this algae off the glass and rocks. i have a porc. uffer, niger rigger . and an eel rigth now and would like to add some more fish. would a tang be better or a foxface?

algae grows all the time get use to it, its a good i think. what type of heater was it, if it was one of the glass ones i belive that they are filled with alchohol and shouldnt harm fish maybe it was shocked when the heater broke....

Have you tested your tap water for phosphate? Could i make a suggestion? Rid yourself of the tap water usage. Purchase RO from a reliable source or buy a unit. As far as the green algae goes, you have two issues. Messy eating livestock (feed less), possible water flow problem. Did your tank overheat at some point, before it broke? What are your water parameters?
