As said above my new tank is cylcing. All levels have been pretty normal, but the other day my nitrates spiked way up and are still there (so about 2-3 days). I have about 60-70 lbs of live rock, 75g tank, RO water, 60lbs LS, so my bed's about 2" think on average. Just wanted to make sure this was normal. Also, how long does it typicaly take for the nitrates to go down? No sump/fuge on my system, 2 koralia #3's

many ?'s.
how long have you been cycling over all? did you start with "cured" LR or uncured? have you been dosing the tank with food, shrimp, or (eek) damsels?
depending, you could be about 2 weeks near the end, or even closer. I'd do a water change (25%) and keep testing.
of course that's just me, see what others say.
good luck!
oh, and welcome to RC

The rate at which tanks remove nitrate from the system varies a lot. I agree that some water changes will help remove both nitrate and other byproducts of the live rock curing.
