Just want to say thank-you for the web site it has helped me so much al readdy,i have been reading for almost 3 days now.

I just recieved a 29 galloon nano that is aproxx 6 mounths old
its a long story but the guy was going just to dump it as he had to get rid of it so i bought it
I have had a fresh water tank for years BUT HAVE KNOW IDEA WHAT I AM DOING WITH THIS REEF TANK
It has been about 3 weeks now and everything seam fine
nitrate is a little high but it has only been set up for 3 weeks since i move it ?is that normal ? coral and fish seam to be doing fine .
have more test kits and treatment then i know what to do with

any HI TO VERY ONE ..........and HELP

Keep doing water changes weekly for awhile. The tank might go through some changes from the move. Make sure to test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, calcium, alkalinity, ph, and magnesium. And read as much as you can on this site! Good luck, there are plenty of people on here willing to help.

Did you just get the tank or did any livestock, sand or rock come with it?

it may be from the move, make sure you take other tests as well

Seems pretty obvious that it was a stocked tank, as he mentions the age of the tank when he got it (wouldn't make much difference with an empty tank), and the fact that the fish and corals seem to be fine. Basically sounds like he's going to be on a very fast learning curve.
