Does anyone use a m58 ballast? Will it work? It is good for 250w MH.

they are pretty heavy,they get pretty hot,but they are pretty cheap.most any probe start bulb will work fine unless you plan on hooking up an ignitor then you can use any bulb.

So, if I want to have dual 250's, I should probably go with the icecap electronic ballasts? Aren't magnetic ballasts nice because you can replace their components?

i think you get better colour out your bulbs with them too...

I started out with a m58 ballast. They only work with bulb's with ignitor's in them. (hami 250w, xm10k) but they just don't fire many bulb's imo. I switched to IC Eballasts and like them much more. Yea, they don't have the par the mag did but they'll fire any bulb and they don't get super hot. I was worried bout my 3yr old with teh mag's.
