deciding between octopus nw200 skimmer or das ex1

i have a 100 gallon fish only tank I was using a diy skimmer on and I have decided to just buy a nicer and more effective skimmer. It is between the octopus nw 200 and the das ex-1. I might end up modding the octopus to recirculating and mesh mod later in which a more fair comparison might be the das ex2. The big thing the octopus has in it's favor is price - $200(nw200) vs. $280(das ex-1)

Well this really isn't apples to apples. The Octopus DNW-XXX series are better to compare to the DAS.

I prefer the recirculating skimmer over insump. The das does have better a pump but not sure if the ex-1 can handle the mesh modded AB2001 like you plan to do. Maybe check out the das club threads because some people have found that mesh modding pulls to much air for the skimmer body. So it performs better without the mesh.
