I work for a sign shop so we have lots of acrylic
and tools:0) We just got a acrylic bender and I
have been attempting to build tanks!!

These are some of the materials I will be using.
.25" Black & Clear Acrylic, GE1 Silicone & Weld on #3
1" Bulkhead, And I plan on drilling the back for loc lines.

Here is my idea for my little tank.

nice job, why did you decide to silicone the bottom instead of using weld on?

hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you used silicone on that tank and it acrylic your gonna have a flood a leak sooner or later.

What about the silicone that hd or Lowe's sells that says its specifically for acrylic or lexan

because silicone doesn't bond well to acrylic despite what they say. I used silicone before not know much just went ahead and used silicone(that said for acrylic use) one a acrylic tank, with in 4 months the thing leaked and I fixed it then after 5 month the thing sprung like 4 more leaks. I just telling you from what i've done in the past. I use weld-on for acrylic and industrial strength silicone for glass. You could chance it and never have any problems. up to you

Glue It!!! He has been building sumps & tanks for a long time:0)

acrylic cement works great, it melts only acrylic and bonds it together and viscosity is just like water, after that, you can apply silicone on top of it, that'll give a great seal if weld on is secondary choice.

I think you will find that weld on is very very easy to use. Just post questions or search the forums - there is a ton of info.
