I have few corceas (2-4"long), they were opening up and doing fine in my sad bed for past two mothes. This Monday, they are barely open and some of mantle was almost completely pulled inside the shell. I check my water, they are fine. did 10% water change on Wensday, they open up for about 1/2 hours and then close up again or pull inside. Got new test kits, again water is fine (both new and old test kit come out same numbers). Have not add anything new past 3months. They are in 75g with two 150w 14k halide lights (light is about 4 months old). Did another 10% water change yesterday, again same thing happen they open up for about 1/2 hours and then close up again or pull inside. What gives? What should I do??

Sorry, no camera at this time. I have blue and yellow tangs, cleaner shrimps, clown fish, scooter blanne, yellow wrase and some sps, rbta and some soties. all these clams have been in my tank 3 months or longer. They all have been in sand bed, no problem at all.

some tangs, cleaner shrimp, and wrasses are problematic with clams. try cutting a plastic 2 litre pop bottle in half and filling it with 1/4" holes for circulation. place the bottle over the clam and leave it there for a few days. this should shield the clam from the fish and if the clam looks better in a few days you have a problem fish to remove from the tank.

I have been reading that they should be on the rocks. So I moved them today. They are on upper half of my tank. Are they too high?

that shouldnt be too high, mine sit up really high under my 250w MH in my 28.. both the maxima and crocea and they love the spots there. but just make sure they get acclimated to the new spot since theyre getting closer to the light

Good news everyone, I put them high, and now they all open up and they are happy clams again. What the odds, they were happy before at the sand bed, one day, not happy. put them high on rocks, they are happy. Can anyone explain this to me? (no changes in the tank.) do you guy think I should change my MH bulbs to 10k and put my clams back in to sand bed?( I like them in the sand bed better) or leave alone stay with 14k bulbs.
