Hi All-

Red Sea AquaZone Deluxe 200 mg/hr ozonizeris

First off I have a light case of ich and really do not want to medicate the tank. I went into a LPS and they gave me some choices. One of which was to use an oxonizer. I never heard of this to cure or prevent ich. They dont sell them so it wasnt for a sale. Is there any truth to this statement that it kills the ich parisite? I do run a 40wt UV for 4-5 hours a day. Also what exactly is this unit used for and what is it. Marine Depo didnt give a good breakdown. Does it make for better coral/acro growing conditions? Does it kill the same "good" stuff that a UV kills off?

Thanks for any advise- Frank

Reef chemistry forum here on RC has a sticky with a lot of great links to articles. Here is whats under ozone...

I am assuming you mean you went into a lfs. lps is a coral.

I run that ozoninzer on my tank and it does make a difference. It does kill good and bad bacteria as it destroys all organic material in the water. I cant say if it will cure ick, but I have never had an ick outbreak or bacteria infection on my fish since I started using it.

The main thing it does is raise your ORP and make the water clearer.

I am not sure if it is better for the coral as it does take some of what they eat out of the water, but then again, I spot feed my corals.

Ha yes LPS is what I ment- I guess I was trying to say local fish store.
Thanks for the info- If anyone else uses one with corals please feel free to add on.

There are only two proven 100% cures for ich- hypo and copper.

With ozone introduction you might be able to keep it inline because over all your water quality will much better which means healthier fish.
