Kalk replacement/disposal

Hi All,
I'm currently using a Kalk stirrer and was wondering how often I should replace the Kalk within it and how best to dispose of it safely?

I break down the reactor once a month and change out the Kalk. I use Mrs. Wages pickling lime and noticed that after a month it starts to turn from white to a clear grey color. I usually just dilute the leftover lime and pour it down the drain.
