My caulerpa prolifera is getting too tall for my refuge. Is it ok to prune it by cutting across the top of the leaf?

I think that if you try cutting across the leaf you will end up killing the entire leaf. I've always pruned my C. prolifera by removeing sections of the runner with a bunch of the leaves. You must either have some really tall growing prolifera or a shallow fuge. My prolifera grows leaves about 5 - 6 inches tall. It certainly wouldnt hurt to prune a few and see what their reaction to it is.

My refuge is a 20 gal long tank. With a 5" DSB I have approx 6" for plant growth. Some of the blades are more than 6" long. It funny, I had problems with caulerpa and cheato growing in my refuge, now it all growing like crazy. I did make one change and instead of 24/7 lighting, I went with the reverse lighting cycle.
