I was just thinking here. I have nothing better to do on the road.... :)

In my sump/fuge, I am going to try out that reef mud. would a 5-6 inch deep mud bed give me the same benefits as a deep sand bed? or would a DSB/DMB be useless in a fuge? the fuge area is about 20 gallons.

i know this is might be wasting money. but it might be worth a try. any opinions?

The deep mud bed would be fine for growing sea grasses, which might be interesting, but likely not as effective as a macroalga. Plants seem to grow more slowly.

I am skeptical about a live DSB in a refugium. Some people seem to get it to work, but getting the solid food from the tank into the refugium can be an issue.
