I just started using this in my TLF phosban reactor and want to make sure I'm doing it right. It comes with a 300 micron filter bag so I placed a small portion of the phoslock in the filter bag and then placed that inside the reactor. I'm using a MJ1200 to feed the reactor and I have it dialed way back but I don't think the media is tumbling because its in the bag.

Is this how everyone else uses it?

One of the major benifits of the reactor is that it prevents chaneling. Using the bag almost completely negates it.

Think of it in terms of surface area contact, you want to have as much tumbling as possible and you want all areas of the media to be in contact with moving water.

go without the bag. If your worried about having small pieces floating around in the discharge, then turn the reactor output down to lower the tumbling column.

Ok. The instructions said to use the bag but that seemed to go against what so many recommend on reef central. Thanks!

Yeah, I cant count how many times Ive read instructions that made me wonder if the person who wrote them ever used the product

LOL

LOL - I feel so scientific using the term "reactor"
