Metal Halides How High Above Water?

I am trying to figure out how high above the water to mount my 250w Metal Halides. I have three 250 DE in Lumenmax pendants.

How high above the water do I mount them from the bottom of the pendant to the water?

I also have a glass brace. How high above the brace do I mount it from the bottom of the pendant to the brace?

I do 10", it really depends on your corals. As your corals grow up you will need to raise them as to not burn them.

I keep mine about 6" from the water surface. Any higher than that, and too much light spills into the room. *sadface*

How far from the glass center brace?

I tried running the one above the glass brace lower; other than making the glass hotter, I don't really know if there is any benefit. I found that the hotter the glass, the faster the salt dried on it.

What's a "glass brace"?

My 2x 250 watters have to be at least 10" above the water line. Anything lower and my tank heats up fast.

my coralife dual 150w hqi system sits about 3 inches of the water. but i alos have glass tops on. and its in a somewhat enclosed canopy. i didnt want lights hanging above the tank, had to fit into the canopy.

any how the legs that they supply you with on the system only make it about 2 inches from the surface anyway,
