My tank is about 30g (Total system) and I only have two 5g buckets to hold water as my Ro/DI pumps it out. So can I just fill my tank with fresh Ro water and then add salt to the tank?

Yes, if you have no live sand/rock in tank (Im sure you know that).

It is best to fill the tank with the total water volume and then add the salt. This will prevent certain elements from precipitating and your fresh water containers will remain fresh water containers.

I am currently filling my 180 straight from my RO/DI. The nice thing is the water fills so slow, there is virtually no cloudiness from the sand (not live). Once full, add your salt, get to temp and add your live rock.

then whats the best way to add live sand to it after that, im getting ready to fill a 210 that way, would it be best to just fill it half way so you could place the LR, then finish it off with mixed SW, all my LR is coming from an already established tank,

That will work out just fine. If you slide the sand down a section of pvc pipe into the water you can avoid some of the cloudiness that is inevitable.

Dont reuse sand if possible. Scoop a few cups of the topmost layer for seeding, but dont dig down into the sand bed if its got any age to it.

Take the new bags and put them in the bottom of the tank, then slit them with a knife all the way down the side and along one end. Slowly lift the bag and the sand will come out with minimal cloudiness. VIOLA.

some say put the sand in then slit a big black garbage bag lay it on top of the sand then add water, if i was adding SW into it instead of RO then mix the salt, would it be best to put the LR in first then sand then water,
